The reason why Heliochromy could never be a travel blog – although in its own way it is – is because this is not about the places I go to, but rather the feelings that are stirred before, while and after I travel, and who I am/become when I visit a specific place. Every location on this planet is different in the way it makes one feel.
For instance, many are drawn to buildings such as churches and monasteries, while I couldn’t care less. In my eyes any religious structure represents the suppression of humanity in the ways the soul’s salvation is sold and bought. If one thinks they deserve punishment for their “sins” they’re better off talking with a therapist instead of an invisible entity living in the skies. After all, God can be found within wherever we are, and we don’t really need a place in order to pray and be better humans.
(How many churches can you count?)
Heliochromy was created out of the need for a space for my artistic expression both through photography and the written word, one birth at a time. It depicts in skewed accuracy who I am at the time, and who I am becoming given the influences I receive from the outside; after all, our senses are the most powerful way we are taught to interpret the world around us. If we utilize sensing the outside and the inside, the outcome owns the potential to shape us into something larger than we could ever thought we could be.
(Getting lost in streets full of color came second to none.)
I could just stay home and meditate and slowly deteriorate my joints, or I could travel the world and end up with blisters and calluses on my feet; I choose the later. The things that I enjoy are not mainstream, and I understand how “cool” this could make me sound. My only wish, if you’re reading this post, is for you to see beauty through my eyes, whether it is something you would enjoy or not.
(Cats sneaking in pictures since photography was invented. Cause cats couldn’t care less about you.)
